According to the brand’s latest email
newsletter, one the Silverback goals for the next few years are an involvement
in a World Cup mountain bike racing team, an ambitious undertaking, but one
that will undoubtedly grow the brand’s global exposure and credibility.

Silverback has its own rear suspension
design – Intelligent Design System (IDS), which has begun to attract interest
from other international brands looking for an effective suspension system that
doesn’t infringe on the plethora of patents out there. An updated version of
this system – EVO II IDS is what will be presented on the 2011 range of
Silverback’s Mercury dual sussers.
Not lost on Silverback is the global shift
in recognising the potential of the 29-inch bike market. In the 2011 range
there will be 29-er Silverback models in both hardtail and dual suspension
formats.
Other changes include a new logo and
corporate identity – gone is the adorable gorilla, replaced by a more generic,
yet technologically aligned arrowhead; a northern hemisphere head office based
in Germany (from 1 June 2010); the opening of an Asian resource facility (from
1 May 2010); investment in new proprietary moulds for carbon, titanium and
29-inch platforms; and expansion to distributors in Africa, Australasia and
Europe. Silverback will also exhibit to the international market at Eurobike
from 1-4 September 2010.
Silverback has also been active in
embracing and committing itself to an environmentally friendly,
energy-efficient future with a strong focus on the urban/city bike market.
