The BC Bike Race, a seven-day stage race
from Vancouver to Whistler, is possibly the world’s most technically
challenging mountain bike race due to the high percentage of the route incorporating
twisty singletrack through British Columbian forests. Competitors from 21
countries are tackling the 2010 edition of the race.
Chris Sneddon (CAN) and Barry Wicks (USA)
of Team Kona won the 2.1km opener clocking 7min 55sec, just one second a head of
Marty Lazarski (CAN) and Stefan Widmer (CAN) of Team Rocky Mountain. Stewart
and Knox, both former top-10 finishers at the ABSA Cape Epic, clocked 8min
15sec.
Sunday’s Stage 1 will see the serious
endurance challenge begin with circular 70km stage starting and finishing in
Nanaimo, with a cumulated elevation of 1200m.
Knox and Stewart finished third overall in
the 2009 edition of the BC Bike Race. For detailed results, photos and other
