According to Wayne Reiche, a well-known face in the South African Dirt Jumping circles, the Festival is a true heaven for bicycle enthusiasts. “I have attended every festival so far and have always had an awesome time. Riders can look forward to spectacular trails and jumps with like-minded people, who are there to have a good time. I started off mountain biking, but switched to dirt jumping ten years ago. I thrive on the adrenaline experienced through this sport. My training basically happens whenever I have time, either at trails, a skate park or in the street. Other than the festival there are a few trails around Cape Town, Durbanville, University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Muizenberg where riders can practice. The Festival is great though, as it provides us with a safe venue to practice and just have fun, not to mention the great spectator support that we receive over the weekend. My advice to anyone who’d like to start dirt jumping is to build their own course and never to allow a fall (or two) to put you off,” says Reiche. Other fun activities to look forward to includes skills clinics, a freeride challenge, fun rides, downhill, hillclimb, a spectacular night ride, night dual and the much anticipated bicycle polo tournament. Children can look forward to loads of fun in the Spur activities area. Runners are also invited to join in the fun by taking on the Tsiba Education Trail Run presented by New Balance on Sunday, 02 May 2010. Runners of all ages can choose between a 6km route (ideal for mothers and children to either run or walk) and a 12km route (sure to provide a great workout). Both routes will take participants over fantastic single and jeep tracks through the majestic Overberg region. The race will start at 10h30 and the entry fee is R50 per entrant. Proceeds will go to the Tsiba Education Fund. Don’t miss this action-packed extravaganza that promises to be endless fun for the entire family! Cost will be from R50 per event or R500 for a DirtPass (includes t-shirt, camping and events for the entire 3-day weekend!). Participants can camp for two days of festival fun or just pop in for a day. Wayne Reiche in action
